Q: How much does it cost to charter a fishing boat?
A: Because each fishing trip is individualized to meet your specific need please contact us (see above) to discuss your options and get pricing for the most suitable size boat to suit your budget..
Q: Do you have fishing tackle available for hire?
A: Yes, quality shimano fishing tackle is available for hire for $20 per person. Bait may also be purchased for $20 per person.
Q: If I bring my own gear, do you carry spare tackle?
A: No - we assume that if you have your own rod then you will bring your own tackle box. No more than one rod per person on Individuals/Join A Group trips. Your skipper will also assume you are knowledgeable and capable of being responsible for tying your lines etc.
Q: Do you operate discounted public trips, i.e. Grab One deals etc.?
A: NO - NEVER. Each person on the boat will be paying the same price as you are. This means we do not have to fill the boats to capacity and cut costs on fuel, amount of bait supplied etc. Prices quoted for your trip are consistent and are genuine prices to reflect the calibre of boat, very experienced fishing guide and fishing experience you will receive. REMEMBER - "You Get What You Pay For"!!
Q: Should I have any safety concerns whilst out on a boat?
A: Prior to casting off the ropes, your Maritime New Zealand trained and fully qualified skipper will give you a very comprehensive Safety Brief. He will point out any areas requiring special care whilst on the boat. He will point out where the lifejackets and life rings are stored and advise how to use them. He holds a current St John's First Aid Certificate and Radio Operators Certificate of Competancy. First Aid equipment is carried on board. These documents are carried on board and are available for inspection. All our boats carry up to date Epurb (satellite tracking) devices, flares, and Coastguard radio communication. Lifejackets are not compulsory but you are welcome to wear one if you wish for your peace of mind.
Q: What if I am worried about possible sea sickness?
A: There are some excellent over-the-counter tablets available from your local chemist or supermarket, Sea Legs etc., also herbal remedies. However it is important you take these prior to departure and not wait till you feel queezy. Also do have a good breakfast!! Ginger in any form is an old proven remedy for an upset stomach (ginger beer, biscuits, whole).
Q
:
Which boat will suit us?
A: This will greatly depend on the number of people you have in your group and also on your budget. We do have other quality boats not shown on this website as well as budget boats which are available to us. Discuss with us your fishing charter requirements and we will do our best to guide you to make the most suitable choice.
Q: Where do your boats leave from?
A: Our boats depart from Z Pier, Westhaven Marina, Central Auckland. Pick-ups may also be from Waiheke Island or Half Moon Bay by arrangement. Note there is a charge payable to Auckland Transport for calling into these wharfs, which we can book for you in advance and arrange.
Q: What do I need to bring on our fishing trip?
A: Your own lunch (unless other arrangements have been made on Private Charters), warm clothing even in summer ("layers" are a good option as Auckland weather can be very changeable), your bait and fishing tackle unless hiring ours (which must be pre-booked), your drinks (yes, alcohol is permitted) and Gift Vouchers where applicable.
Q: Where do I park my car?
A: There is excellent car parking available on Z Pier, Westhaven Marina, which is Pay and Display. Maximum charge for a full 24 hours is only $14, which means that after your fishing trip you may enjoy a beer and maybe a meal at the very popular and well recommended reasonably priced Swashbucklers Bar and Restaurant next door, or take a stroll into the newly developed Wynyard Quarter and explore the many restaurants offering top quality cosmopolitan food in an idyllic setting overlooking the Auckland Harbour.

Q: How can I make Payment?
A: At present we take payment by direct credit into our account although payment through this website will shortly be available.
